UGC Ad Examples #107
Beauty, hair care, pilates + the value of good b-roll
🎬 UGC Ad Examples #107 | October 10, 2025
Welcome to your weekly dose of ad creative inspiration.
Ever wonder what separates a static, boring video from one that feels dynamic, professional, and engaging? Often, the answer is one simple thing: good B-roll.
While your "A-roll" is the main shot (usually you talking to the camera), B-roll is all the supplemental footage—close-ups of the product, different angles, action shots—that brings your story to life. Delivering high-quality B-roll is non-negotiable for pro creators.

Ad Teardown: The Value of Good B-Roll
It Keeps the Viewer Engaged. No one wants to watch a static "talking head" for 30 seconds. B-roll adds visual variety, movement, and context. Cutting to different shots keeps the viewer's eyes entertained and dramatically reduces the chance they'll scroll away.
It embodies "Show, Don't Tell." B-roll is how you prove your claims visually. Instead of just saying a fabric is soft, you can cut to a B-roll shot of your hand running over the smooth texture. This builds trust and makes the product's benefits feel tangible and real.
It Gives the Editor Superpowers. When you provide a brand with plenty of B-roll, you give their editor options. They can use it to cover up jump cuts, emphasize key points, and control the pace of the ad. It’s the key ingredient that allows an editor to turn good footage into a high-performing final product.
Last summer’s b-roll of a pest control salesman interrupting playtime with my son ended up being perfect for my Pestie collab 😂

💡 Steal This Tactic:
For your next client project, here's how to implement this strategy:
Film your main video as planned.
Then, separately film 3-5 alternate hooks (just the first 3-5 seconds).
Deliver the main edited video, along with a separate folder labeled "Alternate Hooks."
In your delivery email, write this: "I've also included a folder with 4 alternate hooks that you can easily swap in for A/B testing. I'm excited to see which one performs best for you!"
This simple step will immediately set you apart from 99% of other creators.
